The number of infections is increasing as the corona-virus pandemic continues, but supplies of face masks are proving increasingly scarce. In response, both the German government and America president Donald Trump recommended that the masks be sterilized and then dried so they could be reused. How to sterilize and dry the mask? The Federal Ministry of Health now recommends a maximum of three times uses of a respirator with a filtration function (FFP2 and FFP3) . After about three uses, bacteria will attach on the surface and then penetrate into the last layer of filter cotton, so that the mask can no longer be used. Studies conducted by the Federal Ministry of Health have shown that masks covering the nose and mouth can also be reused if they have been properly reprocessed at temperatures ranging from 65 to 70 degrees Celsius. The operating room is the only place where protective equipment can not be reused. This process is suitable for the equipment worn in daily hospital work.
